Nick Markel studied at Michigan State University and later transferred to Vancouver Film School. At VFS, he created a short film titled “Levis HVC”, which was chosen for the prestigious Siggraph Electronic Theater in 2002. Nick began his professional career at Lucasfilm as a pre-viz artist and compositor for THX 1138: The George Lucas Director’s Cut. Then he went on to design hundreds of shots for Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, along with the other founders of The Third Floor, Inc. Armed with his Lucasfilm experience, Nick was chosen to help Steven Spielberg previsualize War of the Worlds under a very tight deadline. Then, Nick traveled to Australia to lead the pre-viz for Ghost Rider.
After returning to the U.S., Nick has been an integral part of the Third Floor studio, working on and leading teams for various projects, including Journey to the Center of the Earth, Evan Almighty, Cloverfield and Star Trek.
